Downtown Las Vegas
Casino Consumer
by Steve Bourie

Downtown Las Vegas has always offered good values to gamblers and in this issue we’ll take a look at some of them.

Main Street Station offers a free scratch-off card to win cash when you hit any four-of-a-kind, straight flush, or royal flush on a video poker machine, and whenever you win 300 coins or more on any slot or video keno machine. Prizes range from $1 to $5,000. To receive e-mail promotional offers send your name, Player’s Gold number, mailing address, and e-mail address to: davidbrendmoen@boydgaming.com. Be sure to write “MSS Promo” in the subject line.

Out-of-state visitors can get a free El Cortez Fun Book in advance of their visit by e-mailing a request with their name and address to: reservations@elcortezhotelcasino.com. Careful Kitty’s Cafe, the coffee shop at the El Cortez, serves a T-bone steak or prime rib dinner for $5.95 from midnight to 7 a.m. every day. They also offer an 8-ounce rib-eye steak dinner for $4.25 from midnight to 3 p.m. daily.

Fitzgeralds offers a fun book that allows you to build your own selections. You must be a member of the slot club but even if you don’t gamble you’re still eligible. If you do gamble the offers will be better and best of all won’t affect your point balance. The Fitz also offers two shows featuring celebrity impersonator Larry Jones and Elvis impersonator Craig Newell. Both shows are virtually free except for a one-drink minimum (prices run $2 to $4).

The Market Street Cafe at the California features a daily Prime Rib Special for $5.99 that includes a salad bar, entree, potato, vegetable, and cherries jubilee over ice cream for dessert. If it’s not listed on the menu be sure to ask for it. To receive updated information by e-mail about promotions send your name, Player’s Gold number, mailing address, and e-mail address to: davidbrendmoen@boydgaming.com. In the subject line enter “NATC-Promo.”

Magnolia’s, the coffee shop at the Four Queens, offers up a complete prime rib dinner daily from 4 p.m. to midnight for $6.95. Also, for $10 you can receive a set of three plastic coated Win Cards showing basic strategies (or winning payoff amounts) for the games of Blackjack, Craps and Roulette, plus $15 in non-negotiable chips that can be used for any even-money bets in the casino. You even get a $1 tip coupon for the dealer. In essence, you’re getting the cards for free, plus an extra $6 in value.

The Golden Gate serves up its world-famous 99-cent shrimp cocktail 24 hours a day with live piano music to entertain you while you dine on your 99-cent bargain. Be sure to watch for the Promotions Girl, found near the entrances from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday nights. She hands out fortune cookies that contain all sorts of free or special offers including: food discounts, free drinks, match plays, and slot and video poker bonuses.

The Fremont has a free prize machine for members of their slot club located next to their booth. You can insert your slot club card once per day for a chance to win prizes. If you happen to hit a jackpot of $1,000 or more they will give you a free Logo t-shirt. To receive updated information about promotions at the Fremont send your name, Player’s Gold card number, mailing address, and email address to: howardjochsberger@boydgaming.com. Be sure to enter “Fremont-Promo” in the subject line.
